Model 1928, and Model M1 Full Auto Thompson THERE WERE 609 M1 FULL-AUTO THOMPSONS PRODUCED. PRODUCTION BEGAN FOR THIS MODEL IN 1985.I have several 1894s and 1892s that by the serial numbers listed on the Winchester factory site and Madis are made. Winchester M1 Carbine Serial Dates.Early Universals are military spec.USGI Carbines have a barrel date out by the end of the barrel that often correlates with the date of assembly of the Carbine. See the book The M1 Carbine Owner's Guide by Ruth and Duff ( Scott Duff Publications & Historic Martial Arms: M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M1903, Krag, M1911A1) for serial number. Presented here are the serial number ranges for West Hurley manufactured Thompson Submachine Guns, Semi-Automatic Carbines, and Semi-Automatic Pistols. They also have dual (as in 2 little schitty) recoil springs instead of the single recoil spring of the military and mil-spec carbines.Alright.I have a late Universal that I bought new Big5 in 1978.Contrary to what gets posted on the net based on one actual story where a late Universal fired out of battery, I've never had a problem with mine after many thousands of rounds.I never knew it was a POS until I read it on the net. After reading how they can fire out of battery (any gun can if it's not right) I tested mine and it won't pop a primer until the bolt is damn near closed. Same as my GI carbines. The bolt carrier is a poor money saving design that will crack someday but it hasn't yet on mine. Parts except for the receiver, then they ran out of military barrels and started using new made barrels and receivers with G.I.

He must of have really like this rifle because during a 1967 interview, Murphy mentioned its serial number, 110878 (Figure 2).Then some glue sniffing moron (this was before crack) at Universal decided that he was the ultimate El Supremo Carbine God and that he, in his volitile chemical inhaling wisdom, knew more about M1 carbines than the engineers at Winchester who designed the gun or the U.S. Military arsenals that improved and upgraded them. Some manufacturers used more than oneA few of the manufacturers used subcontractors to manufacture their receivers. Some of these blocks were split up and used before or after other blocks. Contracts had a completion date but there was no requirement for completing one contract before starting another. There was no requirement as to using the serial numbers in order.A few manufacturers used some serial number blocks out of order. This is not an accurate means of estimating the date the carbine was finally assembled or when it passed its final inspection.Serial number blocks were assigned by the Ordnance Department on an as needed basis, generally in response to the awarding of a contract to a given manufacturer.Think of each serial number block as a separate contract. Turbotax home and business 2016 mac downloadInland receivers initially rejected because of an off spec deep hole drilled for the recoil spring and guide, later recovered and altered to use a detachable main spring housing). If a receiver was scrapped and not used, its serial number may or may not have been reused. No documentation from Ordnance, or any of the prime contractors, has been found that indicates the date and serial number of carbines as they were assembled or when they passedFinal inspection. As solutions to old problems were learned, some of the sameReceivers were brought back online and completed (i.e. Carbine Models M1 or M1A1, and some of the M2's, were made well after the receiver was completed as all of these models used the same receiver.Serial numbered receivers that failed to pass inspection were set aside as rejects if the defect(s) could not be brought up to minimum standards. The decision for which receiversWould be used for the U.S. Parts wear out, carbines are disassembled for the sale of the parts individually. If a receiver has its original barrel and theBarrel includes a date, it may provide a general idea of when the barrel was attached to the receiver. As time goes on more and more carbines are having parts replaced. Shortages were commonUntil Ordnance arranged for additional barrel manufacturers.During the first half of production the barrels were often mounted on a receiver within 1-2 months of when the barrel was made. The ebb and flow of mass production created parts surpluses and shortages for all the prime contractors, barrels included. Four of the prime contractors did not have the abilityTo manufacture barrels. If inventory ran out it could shut down production.
